Questions About Your Kokořínsko Adventure?

We've answered the most common questions from hikers exploring our sandstone gorges

Most of our recommended routes are rated easy to moderate, with gentle slopes and well-maintained paths. We typically suggest starting with the Gorge Walk route—it's about 5km, takes 2-3 hours with breaks, and features the stunning sandstone formations without demanding climbs.

Late September through October is ideal—the summer tourists have gone, but the weather's still warm and the autumn colors are beautiful. Spring (April-May) is equally peaceful and sees wildflowers blooming along the paths.

Good walking shoes with solid grip are usually enough for our beginner trails. The sandstone can be slippery when wet, so avoid smooth-soled shoes. Hiking boots give extra ankle support if you prefer that security, but they're not essential for the easier routes we recommend.

We work with individuals on a case-by-case basis. Our guides know which sections have benches for rest stops and can adjust pacing. It's worth having a conversation with us about your specific needs—we've supported walkers with various mobility considerations.

We recommend at least 1.5 liters of water and a light snack like a granola bar or fruit. There are small cafes near the main trailheads, but they're not always open, so it's safer to bring your own. Our route guides include information about water refill points along the way.

With guided walks, you get our expertise on local geology and wildlife, plus social interaction—many hikers enjoy meeting others. Self-guided packages let you explore at your own rhythm with detailed maps and waypoint markers. Both are great; it depends whether you prefer company or independence.
